SQUIRREL LOVERS DEFIANT

A retired couple has said they would go to court rather than stop feeding the squirrels that have visited their garden for decades.

Fred and Mary Gates, aged 75 and 72, have been leaving nuts out for the grey squirrels that make regular snack stops at their home in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, for 34 years.

But they were shocked and upset to receive an anonymous letter threatening them with legal action if they did not stop putting out peanuts to attract the squirrels.
