WE support national shed week - Do you?

We all know about St paddys day, april fools day and the rest, but the PR agencies are getting in big time with made up weeks/months for their products or causes, such as national chip week, National Pet Month, Be Nice to Nettles Week, International Bog Day and National Allotments Week, of course some a lot of them are very worthy to get people interested in going out and about and doing something new.

Alas there is no longer a national shed week, in the states there is national shed month, but this seems to be just an advert thing, and our old friends at transglobal did mention National Shed Day (May 28) on their great calendar.

So Iam looking to try get a national day/week of the shed, back on the agenda, I was thinking maybe 03-July as it was the birthday of readersheds.co.uk, but maybe the birthday of some famous sheddie?

Librarian set up shed death trap

A terrible story about a librarian from uckfield.

A depressed librarian set up an intricate death trap at his home to blow himself up, an inquest heard.

He doused the inside of his garden shed with petrol and set the timer on an electric heater.

He then swallowed sleeping bills and alcohol before sitting back and waiting for the building to go up in flames.

Charlotte Hatherley, The bloke from XTC and a shed

Its being reported that foxy Charlotte Hatherley(of course formally from Ash) has co-wrote one track, Dawn Treader, for her new record, with XTC’s Andy Partridge in his garden shed.

she says via the Sunday Times “I was actually sitting there with one of my heroes, and he’s screaming these lyrics at me. He’s been a bit of a big brother actually, similar to Captain Beefheart with PJ Harvey. Just phone calls, you know: ‘Give me a call whenever you like.’ And because he’s a bit of a recluse, he’s a big chatterer.”

Now all I need is to get him to share his shed, and get her to send us a signed photo, anyway both would be cherised.

You may not know it but garden sheds are very popular in the music industry, we have a couple of top artists on the site already, the lovely Polly Paulusma, the genius that is Chris Difford, the shed (from cork) and of course Chocice (the greatest cabaret band in the world)

I'am looking at a redesign on the main site readersheds.co.uk and your comments would be useful.

I know the adverts are a pain in the shed, but they pay for the server space and my beer, so they will stay for a while.

But as users of the site, what would you like to see on the site?

• Would you like it to be more image led
• Make it a bit more user friendly? how?
  
• Would you want easier URLS so you could promote your shed?
• Add those posh web2.0 features? (once i have read a book on it) and make it more social wossname?
  
• Get rid of the old stuff
• Run more competitions
  

I could just go off and make changes I think you would want, but your feedback is appreciated

This week we have broken the magic million page impressions for the year.

in fact its 1,016,080 Page impressions, I would like to thank all my sheddies, old and new, for the great response we have had all year and hope 2007 is a great shed year for you.

I can't promise any improvements to the site next year, but may have a small design change to make your sheds the main part of the site, and may move up to WEB 0.5, but doubt it.

Prince Charles - buys the Farm & shed

Prince Charles love him or not.

Well he's just bought a Farm in Wales, near Llandovery, in West Wales, very nice area if you can afford it.

But the selling point for him was no doubt the Summer house, but iam sure after a while he will turn it into his own little shed for tinkering in and getting some peace from the misses.

2007 Shed calendar

Our oldest friends at Transglobal Emporium, have given us a copy of their new (ie not last years) calendar, with pictures of sheds in, plus a useful calendar type thing (calendar) at the bottom, for jotting stuff on..plus it has the whole 12 months in it, from Jan to Dec, great news for people wanting the whole year.



this is the umpteenth time we have have been given great calendar, so its worth getting.

sheds a bandwagon too far?

To compliment the main website, iam hoping to get some other views about sheds on here that I can't cover on the forum or the share your shed bit of the site.

so lets start with this.

Are you sick of the bandwagon jumping that the media has when it comes to sheds, every 6 months or so, or is it just be being precious about our wooden friends?
